Our History
Since 1926, we’ve provided Siouxland with HVAC and Plumbing services. Since 1978, we have been under the same ownership and our 2nd generation’s family business. In that time, we expanded the company and provided the tools and resources to make Suter successful. We built a large sheet metal shop with the newest cutting tables, launched our apprenticeship program (Suter University), and expanded into new markets. Suter University is a hands-on learning program that doesn’t cost our employees anything. After 4 years, employees can take a test to be a licensed Journeyman. This is one way we’re dedicated to providing you with highly trained service technicians and installers.
This family business has grown into a large company offering Commercial HVAC, Commercial Plumbing, Temperature Control, Architectural Sheet Metal, and Residential HVAC. Our Residential HVAC services range from maintenance to replacement and new houses.
Commercial Services
We offer multiple commercial HVAC and plumbing services to a wide range of customers in every industry. We provide service and expertise in everything from pre-construction and fabrication to on-site construction and installation to maintenance contracts. Our pre-construction services utilize cutting-edge software to build 3D virtual models prior to beginning construction. This has provided our team to increase productivity, minimize risk, and meet aggressive construction schedules. Our HVAC team strives to keep your buildings cost-effective and comfortable. The Temperature Control team (Star Control) is a wholly owned subsidiary of CW Suter. Our goal is to provide commercial customers with reliable, secure, and scalable HVAC systems. Our plumbing department provides all plumbing and piping services to our customers. This division integrates seamlessly with the full suite of commercial services. Specializing in these commercial services has helped to grow our team and find the most hard-working, knowledge, and genuine employees.
Residential Services

Once air conditioning came about, we quickly added this to the list of services we provide to the community. We love helping the community and providing you with a more comfortable environment. We strive to give back to the community, because we know without them we wouldn’t be where we are today. From golf sponsorships to the Children’s Miracle Network to youth sports and so many other local events, we want to ensure we’re giving to the community that has given us so much throughout the years.
CW Suter’s Growth
We started as an 8 man operation in South Sioux City, Nebraska. We moved to our current location in 1995 at 1800 11th Street in Sioux City, Iowa. This new building provided us with the extra space needed to grow. Our building has a 11,000 square foot sheet metal shop so we can provide custom ductwork and other architectural sheet metal products to our customers. We have a warehouse where we can store equipment and products to ensure we can get you the equipment needed in a timely and efficient matter.
We expanded into 2 new markets including Spencer, IA and Woodbine, IA. This has allowed us to serve more customers and expand our service area. We currently have 180 employees that help to keep Suter up and running each and every day.
