Position Summary
Suter is looking for a hands-on, dependable IT Systems Administrator to serve as the on-site technology resource and primary day-to-day partner to our managed IT service provider (MSP). This position will support office and field employees, coordinate technology projects, help implement company standards and security requirements, and troubleshoot computers, mobile devices, printers, connectivity, and other equipment at company locations.
The MSP will continue to provide specialized and centralized IT services. This role will work alongside the MSP rather than replace it, helping ensure recommendations are implemented, issues are communicated clearly, projects stay organized, and employees receive responsive on-site support.
Suter also has a team member dedicated to the day-to-day administration of ServiceTitan. This position will be the technical partner to that administrator for devices, networks, user access, integrations, security, and connected systems.
Key Responsibilities
On-Site Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide responsive, in-person technical support for office and field employees.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving Windows computers, tablets, mobile devices, monitors, printers, scanners, conference-room equipment, email, software, and connectivity.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and basic repairs; escalate complex, recurring, security-related, or infrastructure issues to the MSP or appropriate vendor.
- Prepare, configure, deploy, replace, and retire company devices in coordination with the MSP and company standards.
- Support employee onboarding, role changes, and offboarding by coordinating equipment and system-access requests and confirming completion.
- Maintain accurate inventory, assignment, warranty, and lifecycle records for company technology assets.
Managed IT Provider Partnership
- Serve as Suter’s primary operational contact for the MSP and coordinate support requests, projects, recommendations, and follow-up.
- Provide the MSP with clear issue details, business impact, troubleshooting completed, device information, and access to on-site equipment when needed.
- Work with the MSP to establish, document, and consistently apply standards for computers, mobile devices, software, networking, user access, security, and technology purchasing.
- Coordinate implementation of MSP-led projects such as device deployments, network improvements, software rollouts, security changes, migrations, and system upgrades.
- Track open issues, project decisions, assigned actions, risks, and completion status; communicate updates to employees and leadership.
- Review MSP recommendations with company leadership, help translate technical options into business impacts, and verify that approved work is completed.
- Coordinate with internet providers, software companies, equipment vendors, and other technology partners when an issue or project involves multiple parties.
Cybersecurity, Standards & Continuity
- Partner with the MSP to implement and maintain approved security controls, including multi-factor authentication, endpoint protection, access controls, patching, updates, backups, and device standards.
- Follow and reinforce company procedures for user access, equipment handling, software installation, data protection, and incident reporting.
- Promptly identify and escalate suspected phishing, malware, unauthorized access, lost devices, or other security concerns to the MSP and company leadership.
- Assist with periodic reviews of devices, software, accounts, permissions, and asset records, and coordinate correction of identified gaps.
- Help maintain practical documentation for backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, incident response, and recovery procedures.
- Provide employees with clear guidance and training on phishing, passwords, secure use of company systems, and other common technology risks.
ServiceTitan & Business Systems Support
- Work closely with the dedicated ServiceTitan administrator to support the technology surrounding ServiceTitan.
- Troubleshoot issues involving devices, connectivity, user accounts, permissions, integrations, and connected applications; involve the MSP, ServiceTitan support, or other vendors as appropriate.
- Partner with the ServiceTitan administrator and MSP on new features, integrations, hardware changes, and technology projects.
- Help determine whether an issue originates with ServiceTitan, company equipment, networking, access, a third-party application, or another system.
- Ensure office and field devices are configured and maintained for reliable use of ServiceTitan and other business applications.
- Role boundary: This position is not responsible for the day-to-day administration of ServiceTitan and is not intended to replace the MSP. It serves as Suter’s on-site technical resource and coordination partner for both.
Technology Projects & Process Improvement
- Learn how Suter’s office, service, plumbing, sales, warehouse, and field operations use technology.
- Gather business requirements and coordinate with department leaders, the MSP, and vendors to evaluate and implement practical technology solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, employee productivity, security, and consistency while reducing unnecessary manual work.
- Test changes and new technology with affected employees, document outcomes, and support rollout and adoption.
- Maintain clear documentation of equipment, configurations, standards, procedures, vendor contacts, recurring issues, and troubleshooting steps.
- Develop job aids and provide technology training to employees as needed.
- Help leadership plan technology priorities, budgets, equipment replacement, and future projects by providing accurate operational information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing hands-on IT support, desktop support, systems administration, or technical coordination in a business environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows computers, mobile devices, printers, Wi-Fi, networking, and common cloud-based business applications.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, user access, endpoint protection, patching, backups, and secure device practices.
- Experience working with a managed IT service provider, outside vendors, or multi-party technical projects is preferred.
- Ability to document issues clearly, manage follow-up, organize competing priorities, and carry problems through resolution.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and patiently to non-technical employees and business leaders.
- Experience with software integrations or APIs is a plus.
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan is a plus but is not required.
- Experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, home services, or another field-service organization is a plus.
